Four Faculty Members of IMCC Receive Scholarships from CHED and DOST

Faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and College of Radiologic Technology (CRT) in Iligan Medical Center College (IMCC) were granted Scholarship for Instructors’ Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP) by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resource Development Program (ASTHRDP) scholarship by the Department of Science and Technology this year. The SIKAP grant aims to “provide opportunities for Higher Education Institutions’ (HEIs) teaching personnel, or former teaching personnel who wish to go back to the academe, to acquire their advanced degrees”, among others. In the same vein, ASTHRDP is a unified and innovative human resource program aimed at accelerating the production of high level human resources by awarding MS and PhD scholarship grants to eligible individuals who will fill in the gaps in identified areas of science and technology. Both scholarships are implemented by awarding qualified applicants free tuition and other school fees, stipends, book allowances, thesis or dissertation funding, and transportation allowance for those who will study outside their home province.
 
The grantees of the scholarship are:
  • Jamalia M. Macatanong, from the College of Arts and Sciences, who is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy in Biology program of Marawi State University-Iligan Institute of Technology under the  ASTHRDP scholarship grant;
  • Rogel Equirne Sudaria, from the College of Arts and Sciences,  who is currently enrolled in the Master of Science in Social Work program of Lourdes College- Cagayan De Oro City under the SIKAP grant;
  • Anjelico Ecchavez, from the College of Arts and Sciences, who is currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Philosophy program of Ateneo De Davao University under the SIKAP grant; and
  • Mark M. Alipio, from the College of Radiologic Technology, who is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy in Development Administration major in Educational Governance program of Philippine Christian University – Manila under the SIKAP grant.
Through the scholarship grants, the faculty members will have the opportunity to continue in pursuing their advanced studies and ultimately, contribute in the enhancement of quality education instruction and delivery in IMCC.
